The Imagination and Medical Nomenclature. The imagination is one of the sources of inspiration for medical nomenclature, as can be seen when nomenclature reflects mythology. In this paper, we consider Teutonic (Scandinavian, Germanic) mythology as it appears in the field of minerals, in the field of hearing and in the field of respiration. As far as hearing is concerned, the author suggests naming “Heimdall’s ear” physiological hyperacusis.
