Abstract:
Removal of superglue from the ear with over-the-counter Cerumol ear drops. Problem/objectives: Superglue in the ear is an uncommon presentation of a foreign body in the ear. Its reoval poses a challenge in terms of preserving the integrity while not traumatizing the important structures of the ear. Case report: We report on the case of a five-year-old girl who had accidentally instilled superglue into her left ear, com- plaining of left otalgia. The left external auditory canal was completely obstructed by the dried-up superglue. Subsequent regular instillation of Cerumol ear drops for 48 hours resulted in the successful removal of the superglue without trau - matizing the ear canal and tympanic membrane. Conclusion : To the best of our knowledge, this is the first experience of removing superglue from the ear canal using Cerumol ear drops, which offers a successful non-surgical treatment option.
