Abstract

A 47-year-old Japanese man presented with a 2-day history of left cheek swelling and tooth pain. Past medical history revealed 2 surgeries for bilateral paranasal sinusitis and a right postoperative maxillary cyst 33 years and 7 years ago, respectively. Computed tomographic imaging showed cystic lesions in the left lacrimal sac, nasolacrimal duct, and maxillary sinus. Surgery was performed with an endonasal approach and lacrimal probing. The nasolacrimal duct and maxillary sinus were opened widely through to the inferior nasal meatus. Probing revealed obstruc- tions at the common canaliculus and the junction between the lacrimal sac and nasolacrimal duct. A silicone tube was inserted to secure the nasolacrimal duct system. At 9-month postoperatively, the maxillary sinus remained open to the inferior nasal meatus. No recurrence of the cystic lesions was noted. Cite this article as: Kono S, Kawade Y, Ann L. Lee P, et al.
