Primary laryngeal cryptococcosis is a rare condition presenting with non-specific symptoms such as dysphonia or sore throat. Historically, laryngeal cryptococcosis was limited to severely immunocompromised patients; however, there has been a growing trend towards the immunocom petent population, especially those using inhalation corticosteroids. Direct laryngoscopy with accurate biopsies and specific histopathological fungal stains play a crucial role in correctly diagnosing the disease and thus prompting appropriate antifungal treatment. Once diagnosis is confirmed, the infection is readily treatable with prolonged oral antifungal therapy. In this paper, the authors present a case of laryngeal cryptococcosis in a patient with chronic oral and inhalable corticosteroid use.
